February is American Heart Month: Matters of the Heart Hit Home for Samantha
Straight from Times Square - AHA Class of Survivors 2026
It’s that time of year again - heart health awareness season!
February is American Heart Month, all about raising awareness surrounding cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death for women in the United States.
For me, this isn’t just a statistic. It’s personal.
I am a heart attack survivor.
This year, I was honored to be selected as part of the American Heart Association’s Class of Survivors 2026, alongside an extraordinary group of individuals who have faced cardiovascular challenges with strength and resilience.
We were even featured on a Times Square billboard, right in the heart of New York City — a powerful reminder that survival stories deserve to be seen.
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. Make it stand out.
And that’s why this February, I am proudly fundraising for the American Heart Association.
You can support my campaign here: 👉 Donate to My AHA Fundraiser
As part of my commitment, I am donating 20% of proceeds (approximately $4) from every sale of my book, 90 Days to Husband No. 2: 10 Rules to Find Him, directly to the American Heart Association. 📕 Purchase the Book on Amazon
Because while I may write about dating and relationships — true “matters of the heart” begin with protecting the organ that keeps us alive
My Heart Story
The American Heart Association produced a video sharing my journey — from dismissal to diagnosis to survival.
No woman should ever feel dismissed when she knows something is wrong. Women’s heart attack symptoms can present differently than men’s - and too often, they are minimized.
The American Heart Association works year-round to fund lifesaving research, advocate for better healthcare policy, and educate women about warning signs and prevention.
During my heart attack, doctor after doctor dismissed my complaints or referred me to yet another appointment. Meanwhile, I had a blockage for at least five days. It wasn’t until I underwent emergency surgery that my life was saved.
Had I not understood my risk factors, and been aware of the seriousness of the situation, I may not be here today.
Awareness saved my life.
90 Days to V-Day: Elevating Matters of the Heart
While February centers on heart health, it also brings Valentine’s Day — another reminder of “matters of the heart.”
I am currently ramping up my digital campaign, “90 Days to V-Day,” inviting women across the country to participate in my 90 Day Dating Method — a social media series breaking down expert advice from my book with humor, clarity, and confidence.
